Noda City, located in the northwest of Chiba Prefecture, has a population of around 150,000 and is surrounded by the Tone River, the Edo River, and the Tone Canal, having developed by harnessing the blessings of its waterways. Known since the Edo period as a major center of soy sauce production, the city has cultivated a unique culture all its own. Even today, the streets are dotted with traditional black walls and buildings from the Taisho to early Showa periods, reflecting the rich lifestyle shaped by its soy sauce heritage.
At the same time, the city is actively engaged in nature restoration, with traditional satoyama landscapes where medaka fish and loaches live and fireflies dance. Noda City is also known for its local festivals, warmly welcoming visitors. It is a charming city where you can leisurely enjoy its history, culture, and natural beauty.
