Originally constructed in 1921 by Noda Soy Sauce Company (now Kikkoman) for soy sauce production, this facility began supplying water in 1923, providing drinking water to local residents as well. It marks the first water supply facility in Chiba Prefecture and is recognized as a modern industrial heritage site.
